Skin Secrets

Several people (around 5 of them) have told me I have nice skin. Growing up with cousins who have much clearer skin and much smaller pores, I have never thought of my skin as being nice or good. In fact, I had a lot of black heads, white heads, and pimples in high school, since Grade 5 actually. Yes, adolescence sucked for me.
But in college, my skin started clearing up, probably coz of the hyperchlorinated water in Metro Manila, plus I spent much less time outdoors. But it was only recently when my skin really started to look nice (that’s according to the 5 people). My secret? Not much, really. But I wash my face at least three times a day.

I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Energizing Foaming Cleaser when I wake up and before I go to sleep. It costs around P300 so I usually have one in my bathroom and another one in my giant bag. Some people have complained that it makes their skin dry, but its perfect to kep my overactive oil glands at bay.
Sometimes, I simply use Safeguard Soap to wash my face.
Since I have an oily face, I always have oil absorbing paper in my bag. My favorite is Gatsby Oil Clear Sheet (around P200). It’s not cheap but it does its job well.
And the real secret, I think is the light make up I use which creates the illusion that I have good skin. LOL! Nobody really notices I use make up unless I have eye make up, but I do wear some make up daily.
Disclaimer: That’s not me in the video.
For my daily wear, I use either Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Natural Powder Foundation (OC1 Light Ochre) which costs around P600. Its very light and I don’t feel like I am wearing any foundation. Alternately, I also used Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation (Natural shade) which only costs P299. I don’t have any preference which one to use on which days, it depends on my mood, I guess. (I’m not the girl in the video BTW.)

And for blush on, I use Elf Mineral Blush to give me a healthy pink glow. It costs P399.75 in selected stores nationwide, except Davao City, so I get my Elf supplies from my cousin abroad.

But more of the time, I use Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder. It highlights my cheek bones and gives me a healthy glowing look to temper the smoothing effect of the powder foundation.
And to clean off those make up, I use Eskinol Cleansing Milk Make-up Remover before I wash my face.
I guess I’m just blessed with good genes. And I always, always, always wash my face, no matter how tired, drunk, or lazy I feel. Plus, water. I drink lots and lots of water. And always a smile on my face. NAKS! That’s not true, though. But I think I look better when I smile or feel good.
How about you? What are your skin secrets?

Too bad we can’t find E.L.F. products here in Davao City. I’d love to try the ELF Mineral Blush.

I remember I used to use the Neutrogena bar soap. I loved the effect on my skin. But that was light years ago. These days, I used local organic products/ Belo/ Dove. Cheaper but still effective.

@Brendel, yeah, too bad. They’re available in Cebu, Metro Manila and Iloilo though. Hope Watson’s will bring those products to Davao soon.
@Denistar, I love Neutrogena because it keeps my acne at bay and helps me control my oily skin. Dove is good for my body as it keeps my skin moisturized but my face is much to oily. Haven’t tried Belo products.

Maybelline BB cream.
it’s like the mineral foundation, but it’s got a lot of beauty power rangers inside it that it also doubles as a beauty cream.

Haven’t seen that in local stores yet. Then again, I can’t wear/use cream as my skin is super oily.

Hi Thessa!
Please refer to these stores in the country which sell ELF Porducts: http://www.eyeslipsface.com.ph/home/storelocator
I think the nearest to Iloilo are the Cebu outlets.
