Penguin Boutique in Manila

Penguin

What started out as a brand of golf shirts in the 1950s has evolved into a brand synonymous with stylish comfort. Original Penguin was originally designed by Abbott Pederson, a golf enthusiast.

Penguin shirts were the first to have what is called an “action gusset,” a piece of fabric that is sewn in the underarm area. It prevents the shirt from ripping when its wearer performs a golf swing. Stylish, comfortable, and practical. That’s what Penguin was known for.

In 2000, retro became the in thing and with it, the revival of Penguin as a fashion statement for the fashion forward men. Teens and yuppies scoured vintage shops and stores to buy Original Penguin shirts.

Because of the demand of Original Penguin shirts, Chris Kolbe sought out fashion designer Perry Ellis to revive the brand in 2001. And in 2003, Kolbe re-launched Original Penguin.

While maintaining the heritage and vintage look of the Original Penguin, the re-launched brand also introduced more designs, more vibrant colors, various patterns, and styles that are vintage yet fashion forward.

Original Penguin, with its unique mix of vintage fashion and current styles and prints, is sure to be a staple in many men’s wardrobes.

Original Penguin clothes are now available via Original Penguin stores in Power Plant Mall, Shangri-La Plaza, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, and Marquee Mall in Pampanga.
