Indian Lac Bangles

Who knew so much beauty could come from animal secretions? These Indian Bangles are made from Lac, an animal secretion that becomes a resin when it hardens. It comes from the Indian insect named Kerria lac Kerr not visible with the naked eye. It is non toxic. It is also pliable when heated so it is easily formed into these magnificent looking bangles which would complement any attire.

    Thanks for the post Ria! You got me dumb struck when you wrote that Lac comes from insect secretions. Eeew… :) All I was told is that it comes from a tree in India. Although it is still partly true that Lac comes from a tree, coz the trees serve as hosts for the insects. Silly me, I should have done some reading myself. Thanks again.

    i became interested with indian bangles year 1984 when my pakistani and indian classmated gave me set of glass bangles. But i broke all of them and now i am glad that i was able to know that u r selling indian bangles here in philippines.
