I want to have that Pacsafe SlingSafe 300 Travel Backpack so I can take it when I go for overnight out of town trips, shoots, events, and other occasions when I have to bring a lot of things. I think it’s big enough to carry all my essentials and keep them safe. Plus, the backpack is pretty with a chocolate brown color.

The Pacsafe Backpack will definitely help me travel safe and light.

Travelling Safe and Light

I am a pack rat who brings almost everything with me when I travel. I like being ready and prepared for all eventualities. But I have learned through the years, that light and safe are the best way to go when packing.

I learned these light and safe packing trips as a student who frequently goes on field trips, eco-tours, educational tours, and field tests and samplings:

  • Use a backpack that is lightweight but durable. Most backpacks are designed with compartments so it can carry a lot of things. A backpack is usually best to carry for trips since it’s easy to bring and it’s not a hassle to lug around.
  • Bring clothes that are lightweight, multi-purpose, and do not require ironing. Make sure you have clothes that easily dry, in case you have to wash them. Bring dark tops so you won’t have to constantly change even if these are stained. And pair them up with lightweight versatile bottoms — pants, shorts, or skirts — which can be used more than once. Make sure you have enough underwear. These clothes should be made of material that easily dries in case you have to wash them or in case they get wet or stained.
  • Keep these clothes rolled and store them in an resealable airtight plastic bags with zips or sippers. This way your clothes won’t get wet or stained even if your bag falls into a muddle or somewhere else.
  • When packing footwear, make sure the pair (or pairs) you bring will match most, if not all, your clothes and outfits. Put your footwear separately (not in pairs) in resealable airtight plastic bags and put them in your bag last. Just find a space on the sides or in extra compartments in your bag where it will fit.
  • Pack your toiletries in a small bag with a zipper and put this in yet another resealable airtight plastic bag in case something spills. Just bring these essentials: small body soap or wash, shampoo in sachet, deodorant, small toothpaste, and a travel toothbrush.
  • To make sure you’re always healthy, bring a simple first aid kit (again, in one of those resealable airtight plastic bags) which contain the following: your maintenance medicines (if any), pain relievers, anti-diarrhea, anti-nausea, and anti-allergy medicines in tablet or capsule form, alcohol, plaster or band aid, and some cotton.
  • If you’re bringing travel documents and other documents, keep them in a plastic folder, in a compartment away from the toiletries.
  • If you’re bringing money, make sure to hide a portion of it in a compartment inside your backpack, or somewhere in the middle of your things in case your wallet gets lost.
  • If you’re bringing a gadget, or gadgets, make sure to secure them safely in your bag, label them properly, and bring only those your are absolutely going to need and use during the trip.
  • Secure your backpack using a lock. And label your bag, and your things with your name, number, and home address.
  • For the kikay girls, bring fancy, rather than real or expensive, jewelry which you won’t mind losing. Keep these to a minimum. And store them in a compartment inside the bag.

Wish I had that PacSafe Backpack to make my travels lighter, safer, and better.

Happy travelling! :)
