Concealing Eyebags
On Day 1 of the Basic Make Up Workshop at the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FiDA), our instructor, Archie Tolentino of Maybelline Philippines, emphasized the use of bases. Bases are foundations, concealers, and powders in their different forms, formulations, and finishes.
Foundation serves to make the skin look flawless and even. Concealers serve to hide imperfections. And powders give the over all look an even, polished finish, helping to set the foundation and the concealer.

Archie gave a demonstration on how to conceal eyebags using these bases. And I was the lucky one to have been demonstrated on. (I only slept for two hours the night before the workshop). To even out the skin surface and color on my eyebags, Archie deposited, by pressing with the appropriate concealer brush, some cream foundation on the lines of my eyebags. He used cream foundation, matching my skin color, as the concealer to hide the lines and discoloration on my eyebags. After which, he blended the cream foundation (acting as concealer) around the surrounding areas so it would look smooth on my skin. And not as a streak of color.

He then set the concealer with some loose translucent powder. Translucent powders copy the color of the skin or product on which it is applied on, giving it a smooth and somewhat shimmery finish. This brightened up the areas under my eyes even more.
Look…

Guess which under eye area has been treated with the proper concealment technique???
I know it’s hard to totally conceal the lack of sleep and stress… but hey! Check out how much better I look after Archie weaved his magic on both of my eyes…

Beautiful, right? And I mean the magic of make up, not me. I love, love, love this part of the workshop because I use this process everyday now. And I don’t get the “Matulog ka naman!” comment as often anymore. LOL!
And I didn’t use Photoshop or any image editing softwares on any of those images, except to crop.
For a better understanding of make up and skin care, join the FiDA Advanced Makeup Workshop from April 28 – 30, 2010, 9 am – 4 pm. It is very much worth your time.

Why,oh, why did I give away my unused tub of translucent powder? I was wondering what to do with it yet too lazy to even read about it.
