Jane Iredale’s Moonglow Palette

WANT! I want, want, want the Jane Iredale Moonglow Palette. It’s a versatile palette with four shades of make up. It has a very pale hue of tan which can be used as a highlighter, a light pink shade for blush on, and two darker tones of brown which can be used as bronzers or for contouring the face. Amazing!

WANT: Doll Face 88 Earth Tones Palette

Doll Face Cosmetics is running an exciting Facebook Contest where you get to pick from their best sellers, tag yourself, and comment on why you would like to win that best selling item.

And I want, want, want their 88 Earth Tones Palette. Here’s my reason why…

I could live on this palette alone. As my make up mentor said, good make up does not depend on the product but on the application. And with this 88 earth tones, I can definitely do a lot. And not just on my eyes, but also on the rest of my face and maybe, even my body.

Concealing Eyebags

Day 1 06

On Day 1 of the Basic Make Up Workshop at the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FiDA), our instructor, Archie Tolentino of Maybelline Philippines, emphasized the use of bases. Bases are foundations, concealers, and powders in their different forms, formulations, and finishes.

Foundation serves to make the skin look flawless and even. Concealers serve to hide imperfections. And powders give the over all look an even, polished finish, helping to set the foundation and the concealer.

Day 1 13
Archie gave a demonstration on how to conceal eyebags using these bases. And I was the lucky one to have been demonstrated on. (I only slept for two hours the night before the workshop). To even out the skin surface and color on my eyebags, Archie deposited, by pressing with the appropriate concealer brush, some cream foundation on the lines of my eyebags. He used cream foundation, matching my skin color, as the concealer to hide the lines and discoloration on my eyebags. After which, he blended the cream foundation (acting as concealer) around the surrounding areas so it would look smooth on my skin. And not as a streak of color.

Skin Secrets

Several people (around 5 of them) have told me I have nice skin. Growing up with cousins who have much clearer skin and much smaller pores, I have never thought of my skin as being nice or good. In fact, I had a lot of black heads, white heads, and pimples in high school, since Grade 5 actually. Yes, adolescence sucked for me.

But in college, my skin started clearing up, probably coz of the hyperchlorinated water in Metro Manila, plus I spent much less time outdoors. But it was only recently when my skin really started to look nice (that’s according to the 5 people). My secret? Not much, really. But I wash my face at least three times a day.

I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Energizing Foaming Cleaser when I wake up and before I go to sleep. It costs around P300 so I usually have one in my bathroom and another one in my giant bag. Some people have complained that it makes their skin dry, but its perfect to kep my overactive oil glands at bay.
