Abreeza Ayala Mall

Glorietta… Greenbelt… Alabang Town Center… Trinoma… Serendra… Bonifacio High Street… and coming very soon… ABREEZA!

I am a big, big, BIG fan of the Ayala Malls. I love hanging out at Serendra, BHS and Greenbelt. Whenever my cousins and I meet up in Manila, whether to eat out, have coffee and desserts, or to watch a movie, you can bet it’s going to be at Serendra/BHS or at Greenbelt. And if only I had the moolah, I’d shop til I die in those malls.

So no surprise, I was excited as I could be when I heard that Ayala Land has partnered with Anflocor to develop a ten hectare property here in Davao City. I was initially bummed to hear that it would be a sort of IT Park. But during the press conference this past week, the ALI executives promised that Davao would finally have it’s own experiential Ayala Mall. WOOT!

Marivic Añonuevo of ALI promised that Abreeza would bring in local, national, and international brands to Davao City. It’s anchore store is a Robinson’s Department Store. Robinson’s will also be bringing in Toys ‘R Us, True Value Hardware Store, and Robinson’s Supermarket.

I am, however, more excited to know what cafes, restaurants, brands and labels they are also bringing in. A tip to brands who plan to open branches here: open a small store. Allegedly, 19% of the Davao population belong to the ABC market. Local shoppers are smart and are still not very keen on buying the really expensive stuff even if they can afford it.

Anyway, Añonuevo and the other Ayala executives, as well as the Robinson’s representative, also emphasized that the department store and the rest of the mall will also reflect the Davaoeño arts, culture, and flavor. Wonder how they will do that.

There’s really a lot in store for Davaoeño shoppers. Abreeza is just one of the many malls being planned and constructed in the city. But definitely, Abreeza is the one I am most excited about right now. WOOT! WOOT! WOOT!
