
On Day 1 of the Basic Make Up Workshop at the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FiDA), our instructor, Archie Tolentino of Maybelline Philippines, emphasized the use of bases. Bases are foundations, concealers, and powders in their different forms, formulations, and finishes.
Foundation serves to make the skin look flawless and even. Concealers serve to hide imperfections. And powders give the over all look an even, polished finish, helping to set the foundation and the concealer.

Archie gave a demonstration on how to conceal eyebags using these bases. And I was the lucky one to have been demonstrated on. (I only slept for two hours the night before the workshop). To even out the skin surface and color on my eyebags, Archie deposited, by pressing with the appropriate concealer brush, some cream foundation on the lines of my eyebags. He used cream foundation, matching my skin color, as the concealer to hide the lines and discoloration on my eyebags. After which, he blended the cream foundation (acting as concealer) around the surrounding areas so it would look smooth on my skin. And not as a streak of color.
